Description:

Established in 1879, Connecticut's palatial State Capitol building, featuring marble and granite and a gold leaf dome, was declared a national historical landmark in 1972. Guided tours educate visitors about the State Senate Chamber, the Hall of the State House of Representatives, and the offices of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Secretary of the State. The Capitol lies in the historic downtown area, overlooking Bushnell Park.
