The Mark Twain House provided home to the great author and his family from 1874 to 1891, during which he wrote Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, and other classics. Now, the 19-room, Tiffany-decorated mansion has been converted into a popular tourist attraction, offering an up-close glimpse of a master author's private life. A museum wing features additional treasures, including a Twain biography by filmmaker Ken Burns, and several rare manuscripts, photos, and other artifacts. The House resides just west of downtown, near Pope Park.
